Inaugural Ceremony

‘Maati Ke Rang’ 2015 was inaugurated on January 13. Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Government of India’s Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, with the Guest of Honour as Chief Minister of Nagaland, TR Zeliang. They were accompanied by MP from Nagaland to Lok Sabha, Neiphiu Rio, and MP for Rajya Sabha, Khekiho Zhimomi.

“The colourful cultural heritage in India is immeasurable and incomparable to any other place in the world. We have inherited this through generations and a festival like Maati Ke Rang makes sure that every citizen partakes in the making of this nation through their heritage,” said Director of NEZCC, Lipokmar Tzudir, while speaking at the inaugural ceremony.

Known as the ‘Land of Festivals,’ Chief Minister of Nagaland, TR Zeliang, found it only appropriate that ‘Maati Ke Rang’ was hosted in Nagaland. It is a good opportunity for artists from all over the country to get a glimpse of Nagaland and its culture, he said

Noting that “more flowers make a garden beautiful,” Rijiju said that “India has rich heritage, more than anywhere else in the world. We should learn to celebrate it. India belongs to every community that lives here—from those with a population of less than hundred to those with thousands. We must celebrate all the cultures without discriminating against any.”
